Domain Analysis: Processes and Results

Overview:

In order to improve the efficiency of their software development processes, software developers are seeking enablers of reuse and improved methods for designing software. Domain analysis coupled with object orientation is widely viewed as having high potential for achieving significant gains in these areas. Goals:

The purpose of this workshop is to achieve greater understanding of the effects of applying systematic processes for domain analysis. The result of the workshop will be greater understanding on the part of active workers in the field of domain analysis of the effectiveness of different techniques for domain analysis. They should take away with them ideas for improving the processes that they are using and developing for domain analysis, and ideas for transitioning those processes into use.

Focus:

We will bring together people who are applying such processes and who have sufficient experience with them to have a firm basis for discussing the results, such as observed changes in productivity and improvements in designs. Workshop activities will be organized into three sessions: introductions; facilitated discussion; and summary and feedback

Requirements for Attendance:

Participants will be selected on the basis of position papers that:

Positions papers (ascii text: 500 - 2,500 words) that include the descriptions outlined above must be received by email on or before August 5.
