Educators' Symposium Scholarships

OOPSLA is proud to announce the availability of scholarships for educators from 2 and 4 year colleges to attend the OOPSLA '97 Educators' Symposium and Conference. These scholarhips are sponsored by the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) Special Interest Group on Programming LANguagues (SIGPLAN). Scholarship recipients will be reimbursed for the following expenses:

• A maximum of $1000 towards travel and accommodation expenses (for people traveling from abroad, a maximum of $1500 may be available for travel and accommodation expenses.)
• Registration to the OOPSLA'97 Conference.
• Registration to the OOPSLA'97 Educators' Symposium.
• Registration to 1 full day (or 2 1/2 day) tutorial(s) at OOPSLA'97.

Nomination Process:

1. Complete the attached nomination form, and mail it with a letter of support from your Department Chair and/or Dean (both preferably electronically) by July 14, 1997 to the Educators' Symposium Chair:

2. Scholarships will be awarded based on the nominee's ability to use their experience at OOPSLA to further OO education and training in their educational institution and/or the wider OO community. Notification of scholarship awards will be mailed by August 15, 1997.
3. Scholarship recipients must formally accept the award by August 22, 1997
4. Scholarship recipients must register for OOPSLA'97 using standard procedures by September 18, 1997.
5. Scholarship recipients attend OOPSLA'97 October 5 to October 9, 1997.
6. Scholarship recipients turn in expense reports for reimbursement of travel and accommodation expenses by October 17, 1997.
7. cholarship recipients turn in OOPSLA'97 Scholarship Experience reports by October 31, 1997.
