Behavioural Modeling
in Object-Oriented Software Systems
|
convention centre
room 7 |
The recent introduction of sophisticated
commercial CASE tools that support object behaviour modeling and subsequently generate
production-quality code has triggered significant interest in modeling and in analyzing
high-level object behaviour. This day-long workshop will explore a number of open
questions:
- Compile a list of different behavioural
modeling formalisms, such as State Charts, and determine their applicability to different
business domains (from real-time embedded software to database-powered business systems).
- Explore the relationship between object
behaviour and object structure; for example, define the relationship between emergent
behaviour of object compositions and the behaviour of individual objects
- Discuss the relative effectiveness of current
object-oriented methodologies (UML, OPEN, ROOM, etc.) and commercial CASE tools that
support Behavioural modeling; suggest possible improvements and future research directions
- Draft a series of industry-proven guidelines
and best-practices for Behavioural modeling (from high-level analysis to detailed
implementation)
