If you are thinking about attending PLDI '98 but you are on a tight budget, then you might consider the following options.
Be a student volunteer. It is a great way to get involved in
ACM/SIGPLAN activities, and you can have your conference registration fee waived. A
student volunteer works a few hours either Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or
Thursday. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Anne Holler.

Stay at an alternate location. The McGill University Residences are conveniently located only a few minutes walk from downtown.
Consider sharing a room with another student. If you'd like to get in contact with others interested in sharing a room, please send e-mail to Chris Milner. Include with your message any room or roommate preferences (e.g., gender, smoking/nonsmoking, etc.).
